Prayer of the Faithful – 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)

Priest:  We approach the Lord humbly asking that he might hear our prayers and strengthen us to drink the cup that His Son drank.

  • For all consecrated to Christ by ordination or sacred vows, that they continually bear more faithful witness to the Gospel by their way of life, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For all who hold public office in our nation, that the exercise of their duties might unite all peoples and restore faith and righteousness in our land, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For the infirmed, elderly, and homebound, that through our daily intercession they might receive the consolation of God and strength of Christ’s passion, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For our parish community, that the strength of the Eucharistic banquet may increase our zeal to live out the call of being intentional, missionary disciples, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For the souls of the faithful departed — especially:  Mario Martinez, father of Mario Martinez— that through the mercy of God they may rest in peace, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For all the intentions we hold in the silence of our hearts, all those intentions for which we have been asked to pray, and for all whom we have promised to pray, we pray to the Lord.

Priest:  O God, our helper and strength,
who allowed your only-begotten Son to endure weakness
     and suffering for our sake,
hear the prayers that we offer to you,
and grant us the graces to be humble servants to our neighbor.
Through the same Christ our Lord.
