Prayer of the Faithful – 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)

Priest:  Coupled with the wisdom of God and giving up all that is contrary to following Christ, we turn to God in prayer and ask those things of him which permit us to love his commands and live them out.

  • For the leaders of the Church, that they may faithfully hand on the authentic interpretation of Sacred Scripture to prepare us for the day in which we will render an account to God, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For the wealthy, that the Holy Spirit keep their hearts supernaturally detached from their possessions so that they can freely dispose of their goods in accordance with the will of God and in service of the Church’s missionary activity, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For lay catechists and teachers of religion, that they may be inspired by their reading of Sacred Scripture to remain zealous in handing on the truths of faith, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For unbelievers and faithless sinners, that the eyes of their heart be opened to the knowledge that no one is good except God alone, and reform their lives in accordance with the commands of Christ, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For all those who have died — [especially, N.]— that they be welcomed into the joy of eternal life and the perfect peace of heaven, let us pray to the Lord.

Priest:  O God of infinite power and might,
for whom nothing is impossible,
hear the prayers which we offer to you,
so that we may turn from worldly things
and choose wisely the things of heaven.
Through Christ our Lord.
