Prayer of the Faithful — 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year B)

Priest:  As we gratefully recognize the power of Christ’s suffering in bringing us from sin to glory, we turn with Christ to our Heavenly Father and present to him our supplications. The response is:
     R/. Lord, have mercy.

  • For those appointed as shepherds in the Church, that their conduct always be in worthy imitation of the Good Shepherd who does not dessert his flock, let us implore the Lord.
  • For government leaders in our nation and state, that they work unceasingly to protect the institution of marriage as a permanent union between one man and one woman, let us implore the Lord.
  • For Christian husbands and wives, that God graciously bless and bestow in abundance his gifts to draw them closer to each other in lasting fidelity and mutual charity, let us implore the Lord.
  • For our children, youth, and young adults, all who have been created in the image of God; that they be strengthened in their resolve to live joyfully the virtues of chastity, purity, and modesty in reverence to Christ, let us implore the Lord.
  • For all who provide for their household by the sweat of their brow, that the Lord keep them safe in their labors and diligent in their work, let us implore the Lord.
  • For all those who have reached the end of their earthly pilgrimage — especially: N. — that Christ welcome them into His Father’s Kingdom where they may gaze forever on the face of God, let us implore the Lord.

Priest:  God our creator,
who have made the world and all it contains.
purify our hearts and minds so that we might ask of you
   only what we truly need,
and then grant us what we ask.
Through Christ our Lord.
