Prayer of the Faithful – 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Prayer of the Faithful
25th Sunday of Ordinary Time
Year B

Priest:  We gratefully present our petitions to the God who gives the gift of humility so that we might be childlike in his embrace and docile to his precepts.

  • For our Holy Father, our bishop, our clergy, and all the clergy throughout the world, that their preaching of truth and justice might comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For our nation, that every heart be turned to the saving truths of the Gospel interpreted and preached authentically by the Catholic Church, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For those within North Carolina and neighboring areas affected by the recent storms, that all efforts to rebuild and assist others be an external expression of hearts motivated by Christian charity and true love of neighbor, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For the parish of N., that, encountering the precepts of Christ and the Church, we may grow in humility and submit ourselves fully to those same teachings, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For all who are without faith and belief in Christ, that the constant missionary activity of the Church illumines the hearts of non-believers so that they might turn away from their sinfulness, let us pray to the Lord.
  • For all who have died in the arms of Christ — [insert faithful departed here]— that they be cleansed of their sins in order to enjoy the perfect vision of God forever, let us pray to the Lord.

Priest:  Father of wisdom and purity,
source of all mercies and good fruits,
deign to bend your ear to our lowly petitions,
and be pleased to grant us what we have asked.
Through Christ our Lord.
